To find local over the road trucking jobs, you can pursue the job through a local trucking recruitment agency, make contacts through other otr drivers, and even apply for jobs through your trucking school. Many trucking schools have job leads they can give you for both local jobs as well as long haul driving. It’s unfortunate, however, that many felons do not get work thru this vital resource. For example, a newspaper printing company may need supplies shipped long haul but, often, they do not have the ability to deliver the supplies to the trucking company. This is where local truck drivers come in handy….you can pick up the supplies from the company, deliver to your trucking company, and then an over the road, long haul trucker can deliver to the desired destination.

Even situations in which a natural disaster occurs, like the earthquake in Mexico, you’ll find that truck drivers for international driving companies will need help gathering local resources and this is, again, where over the road trucking job expeirence is handy and you can remain local. Just make the contacts in the industry and be open to an over the road job with perks of local delivery.
